Completing the First Breedendam Sixzero

A Yacht for All Seasons

Construction of the launch model for the striking new Breedendam Sixzero line is going exceptionally well. The hull was ready several months ago and the craftsmen and engineers at the Breedendam facility are now busy with the deck, interior and technical areas of this impressive 19.60-meter yacht.

Designer Guido DeGroot is pleased with how things are going having worked closely with the owner on this innovative project. “The fact that we are building this first Sixzero for a repeat client allows us to make the most of our combined experiences and the status built up by the success of the Breedendam Fourzero range. The owner loved our concept for an Eightzero but home berth restrictions meant we could not exceed 20 meters. This Sixzero was therefore designed from scratch while incorporating the flybridge and other features from the Eightzero.

“We have obviously retained the special lines and classy looks of a Breedendam while adding a wide range of ultra-modern features within a larger layout. The Sixzero has a distinctive motor-torpedo vibe and will most certainly stand out from the crowd. The painting of the ‘wooden planks’ has now been completed by the artists from Grainz and I don’t think #people will believe that the Sixzero actually has an aluminium hull.”

Smart and Invisible

You can read all about this amazing artisan paintwork here but Guido is also impressed with how the technical aspects of the build are going. “All the piping and wiring is now close to completion in advance of fitting the interior. The engines and Volvo IPS system will be installed in January and all electrical parts have been finished to an exceptionally high degree behind the panels. Everything is tucked away unless maintenance is required later, at which time the super-clean and tidy engine room will be very much appreciated.”

This work speaks volumes for the quality of a boat on which every single aspect, visible or not, has been carefully considered. All the floors have been laid with underfloor heating in all accommodations and on the main deck. “This will add to the air of luxury onboard as well turning the Sixzero into a yacht for all seasons,” adds Guido. “The interior style will have a modern classic theme that seamlessly blends in with the exterior, inspired by the contemporary colour schemes on the Fourzero.”

Future Potential

The first Sixzero is scheduled for delivery at the start of the new season and Guido says she will make an exciting new addition to the Breedendam fleet. “There is a growing market demand for these larger yachts and along with the Eightzero under development we have high expectations for this exclusive brand. While the Sixzero has been designed for her specific owner, the #yacht has lots of potential for future clients.”

Starting at the aft deck, this will be a wonderful place to relax and admire the al fresco views at all times of the year. The area can easily be covered up as an integral part of the design to create a winter garden. This serves to enlarge the size of the saloon, creating one large indoor-outdoor space when shade is required or there’s a chill in the air.

An exceptionally well-equipped galley is placed between the aft deck and the interior of the saloon with its own window so guests can be served both outdoor and in. The saloon itself will be fitted primarily with loose furniture with a large TV integrated into the glass wall that separates the helm station. The owner asked for solar panels to be placed on the flybridge while other clients might opt to use the space to create a sun deck zone with loungers.

The aft garage has space for a 3.4-metre tender and because the owner is a keen diver there is also bespoke room for his diving gear. The swimming platform is easily spacious enough for divers to kit up ahead of taking the plunge. While this #yacht will mainly be used in Europe, diving expeditions in the Caribbean are also on the agenda.

Accommodations

An open staircase in the saloon leads to a lower deck lobby, where a washing machine and drier are neatly stored in a cupboard for guest or crew use. The full beam owner’s suite is located aft and its large windows will offer striking views. There is good storage space here and a starboard bathroom with separate toilet and shower.

Forward of the master is a guest cabin/office with both a desk and bunk beds. The foredeck is home to a luxurious VIP suite with its own shower/bathroom and toilet. The latter can also serve as a day head with smart use of sliding doors to ensure privacy is retained in the cabin when that function is in play.

Charter Options

A well-designed and comfortable double crew cabin is situated aft of the master next to the tender bay and engine room, again with its own bathroom. The quality of this separate private area will help attract the best crew and facilitate the owner’s plans for the #yacht to be chartered in areas where this is not normally possible. With this in mind, the boat is MCA approved on all decks and the functionality aspects of intensive use have been taken fully into account. All materials are durable and the table tops, bars and galley surfaces are made of a hard-wearing and scratch-resistant composite material called Dekton.
