Discover Boating’s Successful Marketing Program

Discover Boating said recently that it has reached important goals for targeting millennials and young families. The industry program started two “influencer” marketing programs earlier this summer. It has recruited more than 30 influencers to create blog posts, social media shares and videos. One program has focused on partnerships with Instagram influencers like This Wild Idea, Travis Burke and Wit & Delight to capture “visually appealing content.”

Discover Boating is a public awareness effort managed by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) on behalf of the North American recreational boating industry.

The group said that midway through these campaigns, both programs have resulted in more than 30 blog posts, five influencer posts, 229,000-plus engagements (including both program’s social likes, comments and video views) and more than 16,000 visits to DiscoverBoating.com.

Recent coverage includes The Simple Parent – “Discover Boating: 3 Easy Tips for Boating with Kids” and Annie A to Z – “Discover Boating with Your Crew This Summer.” The Instagram influencer program has also attracted images from boating locations like Lake Powell, Lake Tahoe and Lake Minnetonka.

Discover Boating said more influencer posts are scheduled through the summer.
