The New Formula XS Models

Formula Boats has gotten on the watersports bandwagon, taking its 24’ and 27’ bowriders and equipping them with a towing tower with board racks and kick-butt stereo systems and a longer swim platform under the XS model designation.

That’s all above decks. Beneath the engine hatch and under the running surface are the components that show how serious Formula is about making these new models serious watersports machines are a Volvo Penta engine connected to the propulsion giant’s Forward Drive, a twin-prop stern drive that has the wheels facing forward. This positions the propellers farther away from boarders and swimmers when they are in the water.

The XS series also features a convertible aft sunpad with a backrest that adjusts for forward or aft-facing travel so the on board crowd can check out the action in the wakes. The 270 XS is 27’ long with an 8’6” beam and a fuel capacity of 101 gallons. The 240 XS has an LOA of 24’ with the same beam.

Both boats ride on Formula’s deep-V design with 24 degrees of transom at the stern so when the day is over and it’s time to head home, the 240 XS and 270 XS should provide a smoother ride than a typical wakesports boat.
